What is Kannect?
Kannect is an all-in-one SaaS platform built to help communities run smoothly in one place. It supports events, campaigns, donations, announcements, and messaging, without forcing organizations to juggle multiple tools. I worked on Kannect as a solo UI/UX designer, shaping the product from core workflows to final interface design.
The Business Problem
Community-led organizations were operating on fragmented tools like events, communication, payments, and member data scattered across platforms.
This led to:
High operational effort for admins
Low visibility into engagement
Inconsistent member experience
The challenge was not adding more features;
It was making a complex ecosystem feel simple, connected, and actionable.
Constraints
Broad feature scope (events, campaigns, donations, messaging)
Non-technical users (low learning tolerance)
Early-stage product (no defined structure)
Multiple user roles (admins + members)
Need for scalability across different community types
Product Insights
1. Fragmentation was the real problem
Users didn’t need more features, they needed one system that connects everything
2. Events = core growth engine
If event flows failed → engagement dropped
3. Communication needed precision
Admins needed control, targeting, and visibility, not just messaging
4. Analytics needed to drive action
Not “what happened” → but “what should I do next?”
5. Onboarding defined product success
If users didn’t understand structure early → product felt complex
Key Learnings
1. Shifted from “feature-first” → “workflow-first”
2. Built a unified information architecture
3. Simplified complex actions into guided flows
4. Designed communication as a growth tool
5. Made analytics actionable, not passive
6. Built a scalable design system early

My Design Approach
Instead of designing screens in isolation, I focused on:
How admins think while managing a community
What actions they perform daily vs occasionally
How members discover, engage, and respond
I broke complex tasks into simple steps, reused familiar patterns, and kept layouts clean so users could act confidently without training or documentation.
Design Solution
The final design delivered:
A clean, functional admin dashboard showing recent activity and key actions
Simple event creation flows with date, location, and participation details
Campaign and announcement modules designed for clarity and reach
In‑app messaging that supports quick replies and ongoing conversations
Analytics views that help admins understand engagement at a glance
The UI was intentionally minimal, prioritizing usability over visual noise.
